I am not saying that Bush is running a fascist state... there are lots of legit counter - points to this - but it is interesting to look at for sure.

    I am strongly opposed to the Bush government and the direction this country is headed, but I find articles like this to be somewhat manipulative. It does not define "fascism", so enumerating common characteristics of "fascist" states and showing that they apply to our government does not actually prove anything. Maybe this government does indeed have these fourteen characteristics, but as I said, showing that two things have certain points in common does not really prove much. It is manipulative in that it attempts to evoke our connotations for concepts like "fascism" even though it has not provided any new information.

      It's actually pretty interesting. Though the original article has been edited. The original can be found here. I think to protect democracy we need to remain ever vigilant against these threats to liberty or we are in danger of repeating the past.
